Honduras is the largest producer of coffee in Central America. It is surprising how little is known about Specialty coffee from Honduras. It was only until 2001 that Honduras’ coffee production has increased drastically. Honduras was a late blossom in the coffee industry compared to its Central America neighbors. Only until recently we have seen fantastic coffee coming from Honduras.
The difficult and detailed process it takes to produce a great cup of coffee in Honduras. As you can see the farm is very dense and shares the land with a variety of trees such as banana, oranges and others. This helps to bring the coffee notes more alive.
These coffee farm videos from Teupasenti in Honduras really shows you where specialty coffee comes from. The landscape is fantastic with the biodiversity of this farm. Honduras was producing around six million bags of coffee a year around 2011. This was more than Guatemala and Costa Rica combined.

Teupasenti belongs to the region of El Paraiso. This is one of the oldest and largest coffee regions in Honduras. This coffee farm produces mainly Lempira, Catuai and Villa Sarchi coffee varieties. This farm does not produce Catimor coffee yet.
