Cusco is one of the main traveling destinations in the world. These are some of the pictures I took during my last trip to Cusco before my ride to Quillabamba coffee region. Many consider Cusco main traveling destination to be a must do at least once in a lifetime. I have walked in many large cities such as New York City during my travels, but Cusco takes a special place in my list.

Many nice looking dogs appear to walk around Cusco. Not sure if they are stray dogs, but some appeared to have a home since they were sitting on someones front door in Cusco. Most home entrances in Cusco face the narrow stone streets. Sidewalks are also narrow, but in good condition.

In Cusco there appears to be many locals that are retired. I noticed this man that came to take a walk around on the narrow sidewalks almost every day. The colonial architecture its seen everywhere in Cusco. Most street names are engraved on a house or small colonial building usually at the corner intersection of the street.

My first visit to Cusco I noticed the flag and though I arrived to a gay friendly town. But, the fact was this is Cusco’s flag. The colors differ a bit from the gay flag. This flag was hanging everywhere in the city. Together with the old colonial architecture and this flag it forms an authentic moment that describes Cusco.

In contrast to Machu Picchu, Cusco has many churches which is a symbol of colonization. This means the Spanish were able to conquer this city. In places you don’t see a church in Cusco it mean the conquistadores were not able to reach that point. Contact me if you’re planning a visit to Cusco or Quillabamba coffee region.
