Catuai is a coffee seed varietal that appeared in Brazil during 1972, which resulted from a mixture of Mundo Novo and Yellow Caturra seeds. The latter having other variants. It appeared in 1970 for the first time in Guatemala, having 20% of coffee production in Guatemalan lands, introducing itself to other countries over the years, until reaching Costa Rica in 1985 and consequently to the rest of the continent, having Honduras as well. within the countries where this type of coffee is produced to a greater extent.
It is noteworthy that Catuai seeds have different attributes and qualities in the senses, depending on the place where they were produced and processed, as well as the methods that were used.
